Psycho: The Complete Original Motion Picture Score. Excellent original score. It is not some sort of reproduced orchestration, but the actual original music. Well worth the splurge. Includes a nice little article by Stephen Smith, which provides interesting Insight in the scoring of the film, and a second and decidedly poor and blessedly brief article by Jim Burlingame, which amounts to little more than a cursory plot summary and a couple of simplistic observations about the thematic content. The music for "The Day the Earth Stood Still" shows Bernard Herrmann at his most innovative. Unusual overdubbing and tape-reversal techniques were also used. In Edmund North's script, based on a 1940 story by Harry Bates, a humanoid alien named Klaatu, bearing a message of peaceful coexistence with other planets (the alternative is Earth's destruction), lands his flying saucer in the middle of Washington, .
