Dark Passion Play World Tour was the fourth world tour by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, taking place from 2007 to 2009 in support of their sixth studio album, Dark Passion Play, released by Nuclear Blast on September 26, 2007; it was the first tour with former frontwoman Anette Olzon, who joined the band in 2006, after Tarja Turunen's dismissal on October 21, 2005.
Released in September 2007, Dark Passion Play is the sixth studio album from Nightwish and is the the first to not feature singer Tarja Turunen who was fired from the band in 2005. Her replacement, Anette Olzon, would only feature on this album and 2011’s Imaginarium before being replaced with Floor Jansen. Musically, Dark Passion Play largely follows the darker, more brooding style of the previous album, Once. The album cost more than €800,000 to record and featured the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The album would eventually go 4x Platinum (with total sales of more than 130,000) in Finland.

Rather, releasing an album with no vocals instead reinforces the overdue argument that Nightwish is not just a great "female-fronted band" but a truly excellent heavy metal band regardless who's behind the mic, period.
