The Flame is a 1970 album released by South African band The Flames produced by Beach Boys member Carl Wilson. It's the only non-Beach Boys album to be released on their Brother Records label-albeit distributed by Starday-King Records as opposed to Reprise. According to Jerry Osbourne, "The Flame is widely-regarded as the first quad L. To avoid confusion with James Brown's band of the same name, the "s" on the Flames was dropped, but it was retained on South African pressings.

The Flames was a musical group from Durban in South Africa. The band was originally formed in 1963 by guitarist Steve Fataar, bassist Brother Fataar (real name Edries Fataar), drummer George Faber and guitarist Eugene Champion. However, this line-up would only be together to record a couple of songs. In 1970, they recorded the only non-Beach Boys album on the Brother records label, produced by Carl Wilson under the name "The Flame" (to avoid confusion with James Brown's The Famous Flames).
