The Sciences is the fourth studio album by American doom metal band Sleep. The album was released with little warning on April 20, 2018 through Third Man Records. It was the band's first full-length album since Dopesmoker (2003) on which the song "Sonic Titan" appeared as a live bonus track. Just a month after the release of The Sciences, Sleep released the non-album song "Leagues Beneath" through Adult Swim's 2018 weekly single series.

Sleep arose from their slumber last month with the surprise release of The Sciences, the legendary stoner metal band’s first new album in over a decade. The last time Sleep took part in Adult Swim’s singles series was in 2014, when they gave us the very good 10-minute one-off The Clarity. For a while, it looked like that might be the last Sleep material we’d ever get. But then we got The Sciences and now we’re getting.

Leagues Beneath follows Sleep’s new album The Sciences. It arrived last month via Jack White’s Third Man Records and was their first new record in over a decade. So far, this year’s Singles Program has seen new tracks by Thundercat, Knxwledge, Dinosaur Jr, and many more.
