Can't Stop the Music is a 1980 American musical comedy film directed by Nancy Walker. Written by Allan Carr and Bronté Woodard, the film is a pseudo-biography of disco's Village People that bears only a vague resemblance to the actual story of the group's formation. It was produced by Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment (formerly EMI Films), and distributed by independent distributor Associated Film Distribution (AFD).

Can't Stop the Music" is camp, and the Village People are camp, so it might seem a perfect match. But this is a funny movie because it's bad, while the Village People were generally a funny group because they were entertaining. I have a nostalgic affection for the Village People. You can't help laughing and enjoying the mess of it, but it's also one of those no-win bad movie situations: only Alan Carr would have made a Village People movie, but almost anyone else could have made a good Village People movie. Still, you can enjoy the songs and the silliness. The movie's a botch, but it works in spite of itself.

This is the best bad movie of all time. Ofcourse that means Steve Guttenberg and disco music are in it. I saw this once, ten years ago and will never ever forget it. The construction worker of the Village People does a musical number about milk. The film was directed by the late Nancy Walker of "quicker picker upper" fame.
