Disraeli Gears is the second studio album by the British rock band Cream. It was released in November 1967 and went on to reach No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart. It was also the group's American breakthrough, becoming a massive seller in 1968, and reaching No. 4 on the American charts. The album was No. 1 for two weeks on the Australian album chart and was listed as the No. 1 album of 1968 by Cash Box in the year-end album chart in the United States

The album features the two singles Strange Brew and Sunshine of Your Love. According to Dowd, the recording sessions took only three and a half days, a feat considering the length of the album
Fresh Cream, the album that introduced this seminal super-blues trio to America, was perhaps a bit too blues-based to do the advance hype ("Clapton is God!") justice. Two of its three best-known tracks, after all, were blues covers. It was Disraeli Gears that turned Cream into a "supergroup. Here they pursue the psychedelic ideals of the era with total abandon (the LP cover art still stands as one of the 1960s' most striking designs), merging these ideals with their take on the blues and adorning the amalgamation with some superb pop craftsmanship.

On their second studio album, the British power trio subdues blues grooves to create a psychedelic hard-rock masterpiece. The trippy Strange Brew and the rollicking Sunshine of Your Love blend seamlessly with lesser-known tunes to form an aura that’s best conveyed by the album cover’s fluorescent colors. Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton create haunting vocal harmonies. And where Clapton’s guitar tones are sublimely experimental, drummer Ginger Baker provides eclectic rhythms that defy easy categorization. Disraeli Gears Cream.
The title of the album, as Eric explains it, is a pun. The group was driving along one day trying to think of names for the record, coming up with things like Elephant Gerald (Ella Fitzgerald) and hit upon Disraeli Gears, a word play on English racing bicycles which have derailer gears. Unfortunately the album does not totally hang together, marred by some poor material. They usually compensate for what they lack as composers and songwriters by thorough brilliance of performance.
