Sven Väth - Six In The Mix (The Fusion Remix Collection '99) flac album

Don't really know what inspired me to, but I put this one on after a long hiatus, and what can I say. There are tracks that still do it for me as much as they did a full decade ago. Thomas Krome's take on Breakthrough still displays why was he one of the most highly venerated techno prodcuers in the second half of the nineties. Awesome peak time techno with an uplifting "woooo" vocal snippet and high pitched sequences to get the crowd hyped, and Claude Young follows in a similar manner, with an amazing clanging sound added to the percussion. Chris Liebing and Johannes Heil both bring that turn of the millenium german schranz rawness, though it isn't nearly as impressive as a lot of their other work from the era. However, you seriously have to check out the relentless intensity of Liebing's track. Words don't suffice how hard and devastating the kick hits on this one. On the down side, it comes in a three minute edited format, the full version is to be found on the Breakthrough 12" single. C-Rock, Michael Mayer and Steve O'Sullivan really take a surprise turn, and deliver deep and polished dub techno tunes. Out of the three, I'd have to stress out the Track & Feel edit of C-Rock's remix; an echoing vocal sample, quiet beats with a opulent bass line and amazing melody work, kinda reggaeish. Awesome! Si Begg and Anthony Rother go out with their crazy electro attitudes, and mr. Rother wins out I suppose. Totally whacked out melodies over distorted vocals and broken beats. Not really my thing, but fans of the older (vintage) Rother sound ought to check this one out. Richard Bartz and Sensorama head for techno territory, although more on the mellow tip, as their tracks don't even try to approach the power of Krome's number here. But, kudos for including them, the transition between the opening, slower music and the full on techno assault is skillfully done through Bartz' take on Augenblick; very true to pure techno (4x4 beats and a deep bass), but enough variations and tiny detailed sound effects throughout to keep it interesting even in the ears of living room listeners. Steve Bug closes the album with a micro house tune, with slightly broken beats and great xylophone notes throughout. This style was something I never liked, but his short track compliments and ends this fine journey in a stylish manner. Overall, I'd recommend this over Sven Vath's "Fusion" album any day of the week. As a reviewer stated before, this might not be an album per se, as the tracks and their artists have little in common, but for a compilation of previously released tracks on vinyl, and for a range of artists from all over the electronic music map, you better believe this is worth your time and money. Seriously, there is so much style and sound covered in these seventy four minutes that I have yet to find somebody who hasn't really liked at least two tracks on here. Personally, my favorites are the Thomas Krome's Breakthrough, Claude Young's Omen A.M. and the dubbed out opener, which is a rare sight since I usually avoid music labelled as dub techno. I'm quite convinvced that this will please even people who weren't that impressed with Sven's third solo album. There's a track for any given occasion hidden inside this plastic case. Don't miss, it isn't even that hard to find.

I have a pretty good system and these are some sick beats that really thump, but at the same time they still have this melodic flow. This could easily be music for driving at 100+ MPH or for listening to with some close friends and and a few drinks. Worth a listen.

I agree with you Tim . Some real good trax - But a disappointing album (for my 2 cents) . The remixes are too diverse and therefore don't fit well enough to be released as an album .
