Mr. Heartbreak could be loosely considered a conceptual piece, though a string of events may be more accurate, regarding the day in a life of someone, anyone. Laurie, you, I or perhaps even the person’s vacation we read about, hastily scribbled on the back of a postcard we were to find blowing down the street. From a seemly small insignificant event, Laurie Anderson has managed to weave what would seem to be a life time of events into a musical story. The songs Sharkey’s Day.

Big Science is the 1982 debut album by avant-garde artist Laurie Anderson and the first of a 7-album deal she signed with Warner Bros. It is best known for the single "O Superman", which unexpectedly reached in the UK. The work is a selection of highlights from her eight-hour production, United States Live, which was itself released as a 5-LP box set and book in 1984. United States Live was originally a performance piece, in which music was only one element.

Mister Heartbreak is the second album by avant-garde artist, singer and composer Laurie Anderson, released in 1984. Like its predecessor, it contains reworked elements of Anderson's United States ("Langue d'Amour", "Kokuku", based on musical elements from "Rising Sun", and "Blue Lagoon").

Mister Heartbreak is a more song based album than Anderson’s more spiky debut Big Science. The songs are lusher, while remaining minimalistic, and continuing to explore hypnotic electronic aspects.
