It wasn’t just the little Jr abbreviation in the band’s name that instinctively made me think of rock veterans Dinosaur J. .The press sheet of Jr. Juggernaut‘s Paper + Plastick debut Wake instantly reveals the band’s love for the ’90s and alternative rock, sending my thoughts straight into the secluded grunge section sparsely populated with big names such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and, as mentioned, the pioneering dinosaurs.

A juggernaut (/ˈdʒʌɡərnɔːt/ (listen)), in current English usage, is a literal or metaphorical force regarded as mercilessly destructive and unstoppable. This usage originated in the mid-nineteenth century. The figurative sense of the word has origins in mechanics comparable to figurative uses of steamroller or battering ram to mean something overwhelming. Its ground in social behavior is similar to that of bandwagon, but with overtones of devotional sacrifice.
