World Be Gone is their best album so far. I know a lot of people don't seem to be into it, but I think it's great. I think thar world be gone is better than love boat but thats just my opinion

Today, Erasure have released their new album, World Be Gone, via Mute Records. Apple Music and this site users can hear it in full down below. The 10-track effort represents the 17th (!) studio effort from the London synthpop veterans following 2014’s The Violet Flame. Featuring production by the group’s own Andy Bell and Vince Clarke, the reflective and hopeful record finds Erasure giving the world and recent political upheavals a thoughtful examination, according to a press release.

Of Britain’s inheritors of the Radiophonic mantle, few have more skilfully adapted their innovative sounds to revolutionise pop music than Erasure’s Vince Clarke. There’s a beguiling modesty about his work on World Be Gone, which eschews fancy flourishes in favour of presenting each song at its optimum: as in the way that the melodic lines of the title-track percolate free of the anchoring beat, allowing plenty of space for Andy Bell’s earnestly regretful vocal.

Their greatest hits adorn wedding and birthday playlists the world over and they have three decades in the business behind them. World Be Gone is suitably a reflective record, then. Gone are the storming disco vibes and the dancefloor fillers and in their place are largely ballads looking at lives lived, recent political upheavals and generally putting the world to rights

World Be Gone is the follow up to 2014’s The Violet Flame, and follows the band’s recent 30th anniversary celebrations. Their new album sees the award-winning songwriters in a more reflective mood, giving the world and recent political upheavals a thoughtful examination and, as highlighted on the painted artwork showing a ship’s masthead rising up from being submerged in the stormy waters, looking forward to the future  . Erasure have been invited as special guests on Robbie Williams’ 2017 stadium tour taking place in the summer. Ahead of those dates, Erasure perform three headline shows: 27 May in Glasgow, 28 May in Manchester and 29 May at London’s historic Roundhouse.
