Haydn: Piano Sonatas. Haydn: Piano Sonatas. A few years back I picked up the excellent two-cd set by Andras Schiff and with this felt that my Haydn piano collection was complete. Then I bought a Brendel disc of three Haydn sonatas along with the Fantasia in F and Adagio in C that received the prestgious Rosette designation from the Penguin Guide.

Haydn: Piano Sonatas.

Piano Sonatas (Haydn, Joseph). Sonatas; For piano; Scores featuring the piano; For 1 player.

Chopin: Piano Sonatas Nos. 1 & 2. Leif Ove Andsnes. András Schiff - Solo Piano Music. Joseph Haydn; Cuarteto Casals.

András Schiff, piano. Andras Schiff is a pianist of great musicality and fine technique. I bought this album because I love the Haydn piano sonatas and have played them all my life. I trust Schiff to provide a solid and responsible interpretation of the music. I heard a youtube video of the Fantasia and realized that I had never played it, so I got the music and learned it. This recording helped me get the sound image in my mind, but I think Schiff puts in some triplets in the arpeggios that really are not there.

The Piano Sonata in E-flat major, Hob. XVI/52, L. 62, was written in 1794 by Joseph Haydn. It is the last of Haydn's piano sonatas, and is widely considered his greatest. It has been the subject of extensive analysis by distinguished musicological personages such as Heinrich Schenker and Sir Donald Tovey, largely because of its expansive length, unusual harmonies and interesting development

Andras Schiff: The Beethoven sonatas can be logically divided into three distinct groups: early, middle and late. And this way the listener is able to follow the process of evolution, step by step. It also includes the encores from these concerts with works by Schubert, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Bach, as well as an extensive booklet, which re-collects all original conversations around the sonatas, and adds an insightful new text by András Schiff reflecting upon the Encores after Beethoven.
