Adam Pierończyk grew up in a musical family. At the age of eight he started learning piano, though he gave it up after three years. Several years later he began studying saxophone, and despite being told that it was too late to start a professional musical career, he kept playing. Pierończyk has won many awards throughout his career. In 1997 he was named the New Hope of Polish Jazz by the Polish magazine "Jazz Forum", and in both 1997 and 1998 he was nominated for the "Fryderyk" Prize in the category Best Jazz Artist. He was also declared "Artist of the Year" by the Polish music society "Melomani" in 1999, and the following year "Gazeta Wyborcza" singled him out as one of the five most important jazz musicians in 21st century Poland.
