For the purpose of these recordings Death In June was Douglas . Tony Wakeford and Patric Leagas. Tracks 1-7 formed the original mini-LP release of The Guilty Have No Pride issued in 1983. Tracks 8-10 formed the first 12" single Heaven Street issued in 1981 and Track 11 formed part of the double A-sided 7" single State Laughter, Holy Water released in 1982. Recorded between 1981-83 at Alaska Studios, London.

Death in June are a neofolk group led by English folk musician Douglas Pearce, better known as Douglas P. The band was originally formed in Britain in 1981 as a trio, but after the other members left in 1984 and 1985 to work on other projects, the group became the work of Douglas P. and various collaborators. Douglas P. now lives in Australia
