P. Lovecraft is the debut album by the American psychedelic rock band H. P. Lovecraft. It was released in October 1967 by Philips Records. The album blended psychedelic and folk rock influences and was marked by the haunting, eerie ambiance of the band's music, which itself was often inspired by the literary works of horror writer H. Lovecraft, after whom the band had named themselves.

HP LOVECRAFT named after the classic neo-gothic writer, was comprised of a central quintet George Edwards, Dave Michaels and Tony Cavallari. It contains the entire collection of HP Lovecraft. Because of that this is a beautiful glimpse of a time forgottom band, now remembered (By a few anyway). Lovecraft is timeless, unbounded, and eternally fresh! This double album is a must-have for every music lover.

Lovecraft II was reputedly the first major label album (both records were originally released on the Philips label) where all those involved in the recording were actually high on acid! The band effectively dissolved after this superb effort, and although various former band members tried to regroup on several occasions, it is by . Lovecraft II and its predecessor, . Lovecraft, that the band will be remembered. Stream H. Lovecraft II by .

Around this time HP Lovecraft was at its peak touring almost constantly and a stupendous show was recoded on May 11, 1968, (but not released before 91), showing just how great and progressive they were. Their second album had everything to achieve that goal (including a change of bassist) but they seemed to lack confidence in their own songwriting skills (it is formidably underrated) and again concentrated on covers.

The song The White Ship was a weighted wasted epic opus that seemed to last far longer than it’s six and a half minute tracking time, filled with interwoven guitars, was the center piece of the album, and inspired other bands to go on to created more lengthy dramatic numbers, not to mention that the song was directly inspired, if not lifted.

HOWARD PHILLIPS LOVECRAFT (20 August 1890–15 March 1937) is probably best known as a writer of weird fiction, but some believe his voluminous correspondence to be his greatest accomplishment.

Lovecraft - Wayfaring Stranger. Lovecraft - Let's Get Together. Lovecraft - I've Been Wrong Before.
