Post is the second studio album by Icelandic recording artist Björk, released on 13 June 1995 in the United Kingdom by One Little Indian and in the United States by Elektra Entertainment. Whereas Björk's previous album Debut (1993) was produced almost entirely by Nellee Hooper, Björk produced Post with collaborators including Hooper, 808 State's Graham Massey, and former Massive Attack member Tricky.
Björk is the only studio album by Icelandic singer Björk Guðmundsdóttir as a child singer, released on 18 December 1977 by Fálkinn. In 1976, Björk appeared on Icelandic radio singing "I Love to Love" through the music school she attended, which led her to a record deal and the release, with the help of stepfather Sævar, of her first solo album in 1977.
Her second album, Post, was released in June 1995, and peaked at number two in the UK and was certified platinum by BPI and RIAA. Björk focused on combining electronic beats with string instruments with her third album Homogenic (1997), which sold 1 million copies around Europe. In 2000, Björk starred in Lars von Trier's feature film Dancer in the Dark, for which she also composed the companion soundtrack Selmasongs.
Björk named the album Post for two reasons. First, she saw Debut and Post as a series; the songs on Debut were written before her move to England, while the songs on Post were written after moving to England and dealt with her experiences there
Listen free to Björk – Post (Army of Me, Hyperballad and more). I felt the album was the other half of Debut, so it made sense to call it Post - before and after kinda thing. I was very aware of it at the time that I needed to be musically promiscuous and have almost every song different mood/style and so on. The picture on the cover is me on Piccadilly Circus (Times Square of London) too excited, too many things, Bright Lights Big City kinda thing, and me eager to consume. So my musical heart was scattered at the time and I wanted the album to show that

On her 1993 solo album, Debut, she finally toned down the rowdy theatrics of the Sugarcubes and began to fiddle with jazz rhythms and electronic effects with some success. Post sounds like the culmination of her quest. It’s full of fantasy, humor and the grandiose, melodramatic, wide-open feel of old film scores. Most importantly, the music here finally challenges her voice.
