Damage Manual released the "One" EP to great acclaim, and only build on that success here. The music is pounding, pulsing, and melodic in perfect combination. The Bowie-esque vocals with a scratchy finish are a perfect compliment to the raw-edged sound.

The newest Damage Manual offering is a much rawer, stripped down version than previous works. The electronic element is still present, but not as prominent. The band takes us on a journey, perhaps influenced by the darker music of the seventies, eighties and nineties. The first track, Revenge Fiction has more of a punk feel reminiscent to that of early Iggy Pop. I Am War Again takes us back to the political ranting of Killing Joke in both lyricly and sound. Overall this CD is like the best thing to happen to me this month. I am going to get the full album by damage manual ASAP. At eight bucks this EP is a steal. The Damage Manual is not a brand new group, they are made up of the members of such inovative and provocative groups as Pigface, Ministry, Killing Joke & (of course) Public Image Lmtd.

The Damage Manual's self-titled debut full-length isn't quite as exciting as their preceding EP, but that can be attributed to sheer length and clutter; the old farts appear to be better suited to short bursts rather than 70-minute sittings. And what's up with all the remixes? Between One and The Damage Manual, you get 12 original versions and eight remixes. The full-length is pretty much half original and half not.
