Tarja will start the Colours in the Dark World Tour on 17 October 2013, to promote the album. The name of the album, as the cover image, came as a metaphor from the idea that life has a large range of colors and the dark absorbs all of them, containing every color. Tarja Turunen is back with her eagerly anticipated new solo album, her first album of new material since 2010’s ‘What Lies Beneath’. The musicians featured on the album include some notable names – Doug Wimbish of Living Color fame on bass and drummer Mike Terrana (Axel Rudi Pell). Kicking off proceedings with the excellent new single ‘Victim Of Ritual’ sets the standards high. This is a belter of a tune, although wait until you hear ‘Never Enough’

Colours in the Dark’ seems like a return the approach on her second CD, ‘My Winter Storm’, where the arrangements served more as backing music for Tarja’s beautiful vocals; but unlike ‘My winter Storm’, the arrangements on ‘Colours in the Dark’ are dynamic and interesting enough to genuinely complement her vocals rather than distract from them. That said, there’s no doubt that the target audience for this CD are people who can’t get enough of Tarja’s singing, and they will definitely be pleased with her latest outing. Tarja Turunen needs no further introduction. Colours in the Dark is her 3rd album after being fired from Nightwish. While having high ambitions for this album, it totally disappointed me. It seems that Tarja (or her label) decided to release the best song of the album as a single and the rest of the album falls significantly behind.
