1184 quotes from Lewis Carroll: 'It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then. 'But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. Through the Looking Glass. and What Alice Found There. And if I hold it up to a glass, the words will all go the right way again. This was the poem that Alice read. Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Through the Looking-Glass, in full Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, book by Lewis Carroll, dated 1872 but actually published in December 1871. Written as a sequel to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking-Glass describes Alice’s further adventures as she moves through a mirror into another unreal world of illogical behaviour, this one dominated by chessboards and chess pieces. Like its predecessor, it contains a vast number of quotable remarks and poems that have been used by many authors since Carroll’s time.
