T Lavitz - From The West flac album

In 1991 T Lavitz was invited to join Widespread Panic after playing keyboards on their first album for the revived Capricorn Records label. Lavitz toured with Widespread Panic from April 1991 through the end of that year, but left the band as the Dixie Dregs reunited and re-signed with Capricorn Records in 1992. The band was joined by original members Andy West and Allen Sloan. Lavitz continued touring with Jazz Is Dead and also whenever possible with the Dixie Dregs. In the first part of the new millennium T Lavitz took part in several projects.

T LAVITZ is a fusion music artist. Keyboard player T Lavitz joined the Dixie Dregs (aka the Dregs) in 1979, just after Night of the Living Dregs. He played with the band until it broke up in 1982. During the ‘90s he also toured and recorded with a re-formed Dixie Dregs, appearing on the band’s 1992 live effort Bring ‘Em Back Alive and the studio album Full Circle, released two years later.

As many of you know, T Lavitz, my friend and former bandmate, died unexpectedly on Oct. 7 2010. I have been thinking a lot about T since then, running through experiences of so many times and conversations in my mind as people do about others, but with both a disbelief and poignancy that there won’t be any more. I include myself in that group, and even years after the band broke up and I would see him with Jazz is Dead or the re-formed Dregs, it was just fun and natural, as if we simply picked up from the last moment. But I want to go back and point out how I felt when I heard a couple of parts on the first album that he played with the band on Dregs of the Earth. The really short organ solo on Twigg’s Approved just sent me into a spin and still does with its perfect touch and note choices. There was so much feel beneath his hands on an organ. Of course, the other tune was I’m Freaking out.

1989 And The Bad Habitz. The album features T Lavitz on keyboards and was produced by Johnny Sandlin. The band played the album in its entirety at the Charter One Pavilion in Chicago on September 2, 2009.

T Lavitz began his intensive study of classical and jazz piano at age seven. At the same time, the Beatles invaded America, igniting in T a lifelong love of rock music. By twenty-two, he was asked to join the rock, jazz, and everything else instrumental band, the Dixie Dregs.

Following the release of the new studio album, Widespread Panic began to release vintage concert performances from the Widespread Panic Archives. Carbondale 2000 was released on June 10, 2008, followed by Valdosta 1989 released on February 24, 2009, and Huntsville 1996 released on June 23, 2009  . The band returned to regular touring in the spring of 2013 with a run of Mid-West and Southern shows beginning in April.
