Peter Hurford OBE (22 November 1930 – 3 March 2019) was a British organist and composer. Hurford was born in Minehead, Somerset, to Gladys Hurford (née James) and Hubert Hurford, a solicitor. He was educated at Blundell's School. He later studied both music and law at Jesus College, Cambridge, graduating with dual degrees, subsequently obtaining a reputation for both musical scholarship and organ playing.

Romantic Organ Music. Exclusive Prime pricing. Romantic Organ Music. I have always been impressed with Peter Hurford in every aspect, although I was mostly familiar with his J. S. Bach recordings. I was a little apprehensive about some of the repertoire being recorded on the Rieger Organ at Ratzeburg Cathedral, at least until I heard it. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear that instrument do great justice to the composers, especially the French. I doubt if many concert organists would have been able to do so as well on that organ. Peter Hurford, however, gave a brilliant performance on a fabulous instrument.
