The areas that are documented in the Highs in the Mid-Sixties series cover a large portion of the nation, particularly between the Pacific Coast and the Mississippi River. However, the series is hardly comprehensive; among the notable omissions are New York, along with the rest of the Northeast, plus San Francisco (although the last album among the CDs in the Pebbles series, Pebbles, Volume 11 covers northern California)  . Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 17 (subtitled Texas, Part 4) is a compilation album in the Highs in the Mid-Sixties series, featuring recordings that were released in Texas. This is one of five volumes in the series that collects songs by Texas bands; the others are Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 11, Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 12, Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 13, and Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 23. These Iguanas are not the same band that launched Iggy Pop's career, although a track by those Iguanas is included on Highs in the Mid-Sixties, Volume 19. It was just a joke, but a friend, who was a dancer on the Ron Chapman TV show Sump'N Else, arranged a meeting with Chapman at his house.
