I think The Killing Jar is a great debut album and fits in my nice collection of stoner doom music fronted by females. The songs are overall powerful with nice riffs, lovely vocals, and gloomy parts. Black Moth feature grungy female vocals, which go perfectly with their dirty riffs. As well as having a strong grunge vibe, the band often draws on psychedelic influences. With their unique blend of influences, Black Moth truly prevail in creating an interesting and enthralling sound. If you are someone who gets hung up on categorizing bands into (sub)genres, this will be a troubling record for you. While their sound is certainly rooted in doom and stoner metal, this does not begin to encompass who they are.

2012's The Killing Jar is the debut full-length studio album from the British band Black Moth. Mixing all the best parts of the Doom, Desert, Stoner, Grunge and Fuzz ends of the spectrum, their sound is a brilliant amalgamation of many other bands, and yet always like Black Moth. Sometimes they have a bit of a psychedelic vibe, sometimes they have melodic pop sensibilities and sometimes they lean hard on the riffs and just go really heavy.
