The album was released through Artoffact Records on June 22, 2018 as the soundtrack to Carbon Games' AirMech Wastelands, a sequel to the 2012 video game AirMech that also featured a soundtrack by Front Line Assembly. WarMech features Jeremy Inkel's final recordings, as he died on January 13, 2018.

WarMech is an excellent opportunity for Front Line Assembly to show what they can do and the diverse music they are capable of making. Joining Leeb on this album are Jared Slingerland, Sasha Keevill,and Craig Johnsen. WarMech also features the late Jeremy Inkel. Inkel passed away on January 13, 2018. The album is dedicated to him, and in many ways it acts as a tribute. Not so much in the songs, but the chance to hear his brilliance shine through once again, perhaps for the last time. The music is a soundtrack, which means it sets tone and mood throughout.

Front Line Assembly teamed again with Carbon Games to record the soundtrack to AirMech's follow-up, entitled WarMech. The accompanying OST will be released on June 18 (digital download & CD) through Artoffact Records. WarMech features Jeremy Inkel's final recordings, as he passed away on January 13 this year due to complications from asthma. these guys need to do another studio album at some point. As cool as these soundtracks are, I'm dying to hear more Bill Leeb. Digging: Devin Townsend - Empath.

The album opens with the eerie digital and mechanical noises of Mechvirus, immediately evoking a Cyberpunk feel.
