There's less emphasis on high-energy funk numbers and more emphasis on the band's pop side. That's not to say it's a bad album by any means. There's just a whole lot less booty-shaking potential this time out, that's all. Watch for a guest appearance from Ani DiFranco on this one.

The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir were a Canadian alternative rock band that formed in 1985 in Toronto, Ontario. Their R&B-flavoured rock made them a mainstay on Canadian campus radio in the early 1990s, but the band never quite broke through to the mainstream. The band consisted of vocalist Kate Fenner, vocalist and organist Chris Brown, vocalist and guitarist Andrew Whiteman, guitarist Chris Miller, saxophone and vocals Chris Plock, bassist Jason Mercer and drummer Gregor Beresford.

The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir played the club circuit in Toronto, and continued to release cassettes independently. In total, they released three recordings between 1987 and 1990; the last, Sister Anthony, was produced by the legendary Bob Wiseman, and was the one that got the band noticed. They later released Shyfolk, which would prove to be their last album as an entity. The band decided to move to New York and try to make it there; this would prove to be its undoing. Dance! and Fenner appearing on Barenaked Ladies' Gordon, as well as a solo album of former Bourbon Tabernacle Choir member Dave Wall.
