Sucking the 70’s – Back in the Saddle is a follow-up album to the 2002 compilation Sucking the 70's. It was released in 2006 by Small Stone Records. Like the original, it features stoner rock bands covering songs from the 1970s. Are You Ready" - Sasquatch (originally performed by Grand Funk Railroad). Crazy Horses" - Puny Human (originally performed by The Osmonds). Red Hot Mama" - Clutch & Five Horse Johnson (originally performed by Funkadelic).

Sucking the 70’s is a two disc collection of 1970s songs covered by modern stoner rock bands. It was put out by Small Stone Records in 2002. A second album, Sucking the 70's – Back in the Saddle Again, was released in 2006. The album title is a reference to the Rolling Stones compilation Sucking in the Seventies. Never in My Life" – Five Horse Johnson 4:47 (originally performed by Mountain). Black Betty" – Throttlerod 3:48 (first recorded commercially by Lead Belly, covered by Ram Jam).

Methinks I hardly need to name it, but if you feel a strange urge to paint the album covers of 'Dark Side of the Moon' or 'Zozo' on the side of your boogie van after hearing this compilation, then you're gettin' it man, you're gettin' it! The only really bad thing about 'Back in the Saddle' is that it's been four long years since it's ground breaking older brother, 'Sucking the 70s' came ou. of takes on late 70s punk? Orange Goblin shows us the way on 'Back to the Saddle' with their great cover of The Damned's 'New Rose.

Various artists, The Harder They Come soundtrack (1973) There was a lot more to the early years of reggae than Bob Marley & the Wailers, and the best of the rest is brilliantly summarized on this soundtrack album for one of the best fictional music films ever made. Once they realized they weren’t going to get any Wailers tracks, the filmmakers chose brilliantly. We’re gonna please ya please ya please ya please y. Dan Weiss. 68. Nick Drake, Pink Moon (1972) Few albums on this list have aged as well as Nick Drake ’s final album from 1972, recorded in a pair of post-midnight sessions with just Drake and producer John Wood. The simplicity of acoustic guitar, subtle piano and whispered vocals could have been recorded four decades later-and indeed Drake has sold many more copies of his albums since his death in 1974.

But it’s a lovely, charming album from the dadaist jaunt of Backwater to its tranquil second side, whose mood and texture seems to tear a page from Eno’s 1977-78 David Bowie Album Construction Playbook, yet rectifies the divide between his pop and ambient impulses. Listen: Brian Eno: Backwater. After the gold rush of 1960s California rock, most of its main players spent the ’70s slowly hippie-twirling towards irrelevance and rehab resorts. Not so for Mr. Young, who was just hitting his stride as the decade turned over, kicking off a run of 11 great albums in 10 years with After the Gold Rush It would take four years, several jailings, and countless beatings before he would get back on his feet to launch his solo career.
