Lightnin' Hopkins (re-released as The Roots of Lightnin' Hopkins) is an album by blues musician Lightnin' Hopkins, recorded in 1959 and released on the Folkways label.

Samuel John "Lightnin'" Hopkins (March 15, 1912 – January 30, 1982) was an American country blues singer, songwriter, guitarist and occasional pianist, from Centerville, Texas. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 71 on its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. The musicologist Robert "Mack" McCormick opined that Hopkins is "the embodiment of the jazz-and-poetry spirit, representing its ancient form in the single creator whose words and music are one act".

Complete sua coleção de Lightnin' Hopkins. I bought this album many years ago when it was first released, and it has to be one of the very best of Lightnin' if not the best blues album ever! "Automobile Blues" is outstanding. When I saw a reissue on vinyl, I had to bite--and was not disappointed.
