Showcase is a studio album by American country music singer Patsy Cline, recorded with The Jordanaires and released November 27, 1961. It was Cline's second studio album and her first since Patsy Cline in 1957. The album produced two singles that became hits on both the Billboard country and pop charts. The first, "I Fall to Pieces," became Cline's first number one hit on the Billboard country chart and also reached the Top 15 on the pop Top 100 in 1961
Patsy Cline (September 8, 1932 – March 5, 1963), born Virginia Patterson Hensley, was an American country music singer. Part of the early 1960s Nashville sound, Cline successfully "crossed over" to pop music. She died at age 30 at the height of her career in a private plane crash. by Bea Fitzgerald Stevens. Owen Bradley said he & Cline talked of doing an album of show tunes before her death, including "Can't Help Loving That Man of Mine". Cline cried through what would be her last sessions. This emotion is heard on certain tracks, "Sweet Dreams" & "Faded Love" the first and the last. It's In Black & White ❐ ❐.
Later, she expressed regret over signing with the label, but thinking that nobody else would have her, she took the deal. Her first record for Four Star was "A Church, A Courtroom & Then Good-Bye", which attracted little attention, although it led to appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. As these performances were not "records" per se, they were not governed by her contract, and she could sing what she wanted, within reason. An album released in November 1961, entitled Patsy Cline Showcase, featured both of Cline's hits of that year. Loretta Lynn later reported on her album, I Remember Patsy, that on the night Cline premiered "Crazy" at the Grand Ole Opry, she received three standing ovations. In the fall of 1961, Cline was back in the studio to record an upcoming album for release in early 1962.
Patsy Cline was the debut studio album by American country music singer, Patsy Cline, released on August 5, 1957. It would be the first of the three studio albums Cline would record during her lifetime. Recording for the album began in January 1956 and ended in May 1957. The album produced two singles. The first, Walkin' After Midnight, was released in 1957 and became both a Top 20 pop smash and a classic. Cline was unable to follow up the success of Walkin' After Midnight ; and the second single, I Don’t Wanta, failed to chart. Patsy Cline Q&A.
The Patsy Cline Story.
Country queen Patsy Cline missed the US album chart with her first, self-titled 1957 release, even though it contained her No. 2 country hit of that year, ‘Walkin’ After Midnight. Despite some EP releases and then the resumption of her hit career in 1961, she didn’t release a second album until towards the end of that year. Then on 31 March 1962, that disc, Patsy Cline Showcase, finally gave her a presence on the album chart
