Tim Love Lee's Peace Feast Industries label seems to be enjoying something of a creative rebirth recently; active since 1994, it was lifted out of decade long. Wenzenwoznow puts the percussion on the shelf and sees Lee focus on a sweet, lullaby-esque plucked synth concerto – wonderful stuff and hazily reminiscent of Four Tet in phrasing and melodic outline in his Folktronica phase – a real gem to finish off this lovely 2 tracker. Tim Love Lee's Peace Feast Industries label seems to be enjoying something of a creative rebirth of late; active since 1994, it was lifted out of decade long dormancy last year with that Sotofett collaboration the obvious highlight. Early presses of Standard Jazz saw the light of day very late in 2014, and now it's been granted an official release and both cuts offer a reminder of the Love man's rich versatility and magical sense of musicianship. Wenzenwoznow", meanwhile, is a dense slice of loopy ambient music that's so strong, shimmery and positive it's almost festive.

Love is the eponymous debut album by the Los Angeles-based rock band Love, and was released in March 1966 on Elektra Records. Arthur Lee, who was originally from Memphis, Tennessee, but had lived in Los Angeles since he was five, had been recording since 1963 with his bands, the LAG's and Lee's American Four. He had written and also produced the single "My Diary" for Rosa Lee Brooks in 1964 which featured Jimi Hendrix on guitar.

The only concessions to the '90s are the beats - edgy, well-programmed and just enough of a presence to lift Confessions of a Selector above the many stale trip-hop and nu-disco albums released around the same time.

Last time I checked in, Tim "Love" Lee was known for making San-Fran style downtempoish tracks, none of which I confess made me particularly waiting on pins for his next piece of output. What he has done here is create one of the best avant-garde records I have ever heard. Rare is it that I hear a style that is totally fresh: this record delves into almost pure dissonance then pulls you back with a riff or something that almost sounds like the beginnings of a sample-based breakbeat tune, only to drop out again.
