Old Time Rock and Roll" is a song written by George Jackson and Thomas E. Jones III, and recorded by Bob Seger for his 1978 album Stranger in Town. It was also released as a single in 1979. It is a sentimentalized look back at the music of the original rock 'n' roll era. The song gained renewed popularity after being featured in the 1983 film Risky Business

Country music's fan base is growing because it still relies largely on radio, and video channels like CMT and GAC, both of which are very supportive of directors and artists taking artistic chances in the way they choose to dramatize, animate, and portray songs - check the work of the brilliant director Trey Fanjoy just for starters. Country's latest audience grew up on rock & roll, MTV (when it still played videos), soul, blues, funk, early rap, and in some cases even punk.

Vote for the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees. These Kentucky boys took a giant leap forward on their fourth album – giant enough to take them from a jammy Americana band to awe-inspiring purveyors of interstellar art rock. My Morning Jacket infused Z with both Eno-esque keyboards and sculpted guitars, but also Skynyrd-style riffs and bar-band grooves.

Still like that old time rock’n’ roll That kind of music just soothes the soul I reminisce about the days of old With that old time rock ‘n’ roll. Won’t go to hear them play a tango I’d rather hear some blues or funky old soul There’s only sure way to get me to go Start playing old time rock ‘n’ roll Call me a relic, call me what you will Say I’m old-fashioned, say I’m over the hill Today’ music ain’t got the same. soul I like that old time rock ‘n’ roll

On February 3, 1959, American rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "The Big Bopper" J. P. Richardson were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, together with pilot Roger Peterson. The event later became known as "The Day the Music Died", after singer-songwriter Don McLean referred to it as such in his 1971 song "American Pie".

Come on down to the city at night And see how the people cry Wish away the time To the rhythm and rhyme Of a lifeless lullaby. And everybody wants for something Everybody wants for more Swimmin’ to the lands Of the shimmerin’ sands And we drowned just off the shore. All these voices sound the same All that changes is the name. And I just wanna hear some music with some soul So many sheltered shades of grey I’m not about to mourn the death of rock’n’roll Cast your broken shackles away. And sing like you mean it Sing like you’re feeling something

Roxy Music are fondly remembered by fans as one of the most eccentric and unusual rock acts of the 1970s and their self-titled first album is widely regarded as one of the best British debuts of all time.
