Numb" is a song by rock band U2. It is the third track from their 1993 album Zooropa and was released in June 1993 as the album's first single. The song features a monotonous mantra of "don't" commands spoken by guitarist the Edge amidst a backdrop of various sound effects and samples. The noisy composition and lyrical concept for "Numb" were inspired by the theme of sensory overload, which had prominently been incorporated into the Zoo TV Tour.
Don't move Don't talk out-a time Don't think Don't worry, everything's just fine Just fine. Don't grab Don't clutch Don't hope for too much Don't breathe Don't achieve Don't grieve without leave. I feel numb Gimme some more Gimme some more Of that stuff love Gimme some more Too much is not enough I feel numb. I feel numb I feel numb. Numb is the first single from U2’s 1993 album Zooropa and the first video single from U2.
Comfortably Numb" is a song by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on their eleventh album, The Wall (1979). It was released as a single in 1980 with "Hey You" as the B-side. The music was written by guitarist David Gilmour, while the lyrics were written by bassist Roger Waters. Comfortably Numb" is one of Pink Floyd's most famous songs, renowned for its two guitar solos. In 2004, it was ranked number 314 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time
There were however, a number of audio promotional items issued to promote Numb as the first song off of the Zooropa album. The first promotional item was a strange 12-inch single sent to radio stations. The single had only a white label with the name Numb and a note Produced by Fee Dognoodle at the bottom. It contained the same label on both sides, and indeed the 12-inch played the same track on both sides. The vinyl was packaged in a generic yellow Island records.
Numb, a monotone spoken lyric by Edge, with Bono providing backing vocals is the third track on the U2 album "Zooropa" and the first single released from that album. It explores themes of sensory overload - a noisy backing track with the Edge providing a list of "Don't".
A promotional video for U2's 1993 single "Numb. Several videos were made for the album but none of them appear here apart from Numb which features The Edge singing into the camera while all sorts of shenanigans are going on in the background. We see another version of Numb with a montage of diverse clips and then we get Love Is Blindness which doesn't actually appear on ZOOROPA. I consider ZOOROPA to be the best U2 album from the 1990s but it's very sad there's little in the way of songs from the album used in this video EP.
