Neyla Pekarek Announces Debut Solo Album 'Rattlesnake,' Debuts First Track: Exclusive. 11/1/2018 by Marina Pedrosa. Taking the listener into a sonic trip to western America, Neyla Pekarek has debuted her first solo single "Train," premiering exclusively on Billboard today (Nov. 1). The song will appear on Pekarek's debut solo album Rattlesnake, out Jan. 18 on S-Curve Records. On lead single "Train," Pekarek sets the record's adventurous tone with a playful, upbeat melody accentuated by her full-throated vocal delivery.

I feel really liberated to be releasing my own record and my own music, says cellist and singer Neyla Pekarek, who, in October, announced her departure from folk band the Lumineers. Now signed to S-Curve Records as a solo artist, her debut album Rattlesnake drops Friday. I would definitely call this record a feminist record, a women-empowering record. One even could say that Pekarek is shedding her skin and taking on a new form with Rattlesnake, which was themed around the legend of Colorado pioneer Kate McHale Slaughterback.

Neyla Pekarek (/ˈniːlə pɛˈkærɛk/; born September 4, 1986) is a cellist, vocalist, and pianist. She was a member of the folk rock band The Lumineers from 2010 to 2018. Pekarek is a native of Denver, Colorado. She grew up in a household with her parents and one sibling, an older sister. She began playing the cello at age nine, performing in her school's orchestra.
