The music of French composer Igor Wakhevitch is as difficult to summarize as any modern classical or avant-garde performer you care to name. The lengthy title piece ends with a group of reverberated voices stating Let’s start over and over, eventually morphing into a larger group chanting Let’s get high and then back to I say let’s start. Compiling some of the pieces specially written for Carlson's "This, that and the other" (created for the Groupe de recherche Théâtrale de l'Opéra de Paris), the album follows the otherwordly steps of it's predecessor ("Les Fous D'or") in a more calm, relaxed, almost nocturnal way.

Igor Wakhevitch's musical universe is a patchwork of styles. His musical background is heavily influenced by contemporary avant garde, dodecaphonism and sound experimentations. This however, is more clinical, less chaotic and far more refined. There are some beautiful moments such as 'Beginning Of Peter's Journey' which has a lovely piano tune that is echoed heavily, and reminds me of UK Kids TV programme 'Ivor the Engine' from the mid 70's. It's also nice to know that Wakhevitch let 'Gabriel the Toad' from 'Bagpuss' play his banjo on 'The Smile Of Wolf On The Bench'
