Blues Revue said he plays joyous rave-up. e testifies with stunning soul fervor and powerful guitar. One of the blues’ finest songwriters. Tributes to Eddy The Chief Clearwater Steven I. Wolf posted his tribute last year. Check it out on YouTube. I produced his award-winning album, West Side Strut on Alligator Records which just celebrated its 10th anniversary. We just wrote some killer songs together. I was so looking forward to doing this next record with him. For Eddy to have so much trust in me was priceless. Ronnie Baker Brooks. Eddy Clearwater’s 2016 induction into the Blues Hall of Fame will always remain a highlight for me as one of my first official duties presiding over The Blues Foundation.

This was the charismatic southpaw's debut album back in 1980, and remains his best to date. He rocks like Chuck Berry used to (but no longer can) on "I Wouldn't Lay My Guitar Down," and tears up the West Side-based "Bad Dream" and "Blues for a Living," imparts a hard-driving Chi-town shuffle to "Find You a Job" and "I'm Tore Up," and gives "Lazy Woman" a decidedly un-lazy Latin tempo. One of the best Chicago blues LPs of the 1980s.

Grammy-nominated Chicago blues legend Eddy The Chief Clearwater died of heart failure on Friday, June 1, in his hometown of Skokie, Illinois. He was 83. Born Edward Harrington on January 10, 1935 in Macon, Mississippi, Clearwater (as he came to be known) was internationally lauded for his blues-rocking guitar playing, his original songs and his flamboyant showmanship. He was inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame in 2016, and also won two Blues Music Awards including Contemporary Male Blues Artist Of The Year in 2001. His 2003 album on Bullseye Blues, Rock ‘N’ Roll City, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album. He released West Side Strut on Alligator in 2008 to both international popular and critical acclaim. His most recent CD was the self-released Soul Funky in 2014.
