And while at times the album can sound a little prefabricated - just enough to give RCA something easy to sell - Bullets and Octane have enough hooks and energy to make this record work, and their embrace of both . metal gives them a bit of distinctive sound. Perhaps they're just a shade too polished and precise to be the reckless punk rockers they aspire to be, but as far as major-label retro-punk goes in 2006, this is a strong listen, since Bullets and Octane have style and swagger in equal measure.

This is punk rock at its most basic; notions of originality or creativity never entered the playpen, and if they had, they'd have been bullied and sworn at by the brash and dirty bigger boys. The songs race along without a thought for lyrical coherence or meaning. That anyone would actually be bothered to copy this album and risk incurring the FBI's wrath seems unlikely. The fact is, that given a free evening, a record collection, a guitar and a bottle of Jack Daniels, anybody who cared to could probably churn out an album of songs of a very similar quality.

Bullets and Octane exploded onto the scene in 2003 with their debut EP "One Night Stand Rock N Roll Band" on Critereon Records. 2004 saw the 2nd EP "Bullets And Octane" and their debut album "The Revelry" produced by Gilby Clark of Guns And Roses also on Critereon Records. In 2005-2006 they Supported Avenged Sevenfold in America and Europe on the City Of Evil Tour. 2006 was a big year for the band as they were signed to RCA/BMG Records.
