How the West Was Won is a live triple album by the English rock group Led Zeppelin, released by Atlantic Records on compact disc on 27 May 2003, and DVD-Audio on 7 October 2003. The recordings are taken from two 1972 performances in California: . Forum (25 June 1972) and Long Beach Arena (27 June 1972). Guitarist Jimmy Page considers Led Zeppelin at this point to have been at their artistic peak, as is mentioned in the album's liner notes and in an interview he gave to The Times newspaper in 2010.

Led Zeppelin’s 1976 soundtrack and concert souvenir is bloated, boring and filled with zero musical tension.

Dazed and Confused (How The West Was Won) Lyrics. 12. What Is And What Should Never Be (How The West Was Won) Lyrics. 13. Dancing Days (How The West Was Won) Lyrics. 14. Moby Dick (How The West Was Won) Lyrics. 15. Whole Lotta Love (How The West Was Won) Lyrics. 16. Rock And Roll - Live (from How The West Was Won) Lyrics. 17. The Ocean (from How The West Was Won) Lyrics. 18. Bring It On Home (How The West Was Won) Lyrics. About How The West Was Won.

HOW THE WEST WAS WON highlights the best performances from Led Zeppelin’s legendary concerts at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena on June 25 and 27, 1972. Melded together and sequenced to replicate a single concert from beginning to end, the three-CD collection captures the band at the height of its formidable powers.

Led Zeppelin, authors of the radio-history and so many hallowed riffs and sexual double-entendres involving fruit, are so played-out at this point that they've managed to become taken for granted. Jimmy Page found the two 1972 Los Angeles shows featured on the triple disc How the West Was Won while poring over his archives for what was to be a straight DVD release. And just like that, new magic is cast, new legends are born. One of the interesting things about Zep (and if you believe the rockists, this holds true for any truly "great" band) is that they made their most definitive statements in concert.

Guitarist Jimmy Page considers Led Zeppelin at this point to have been at their artistic peak, as is mentioned in the album's liner notes In an interview he gave to The Times newspaper in 2010, when asked which performances from Led Zeppelin's career stand out to him now, he made reference to these gigs: I think what we did on How the West was Won – that 1972 gig – is pretty much a testament of how good it was It would have been nice to have had a little more visual recordings, but there you go That’s the conundrum of Led Zeppelin!1.

Details of additional Led Zeppelin 50th Anniversary releases and events will be announced later this year. Originally released in 2003, HOW THE WEST WAS WON highlights the best performances from Led Zeppelin’s legendary concerts at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena on June 25 and 27, 1972. Melded together and sequenced to replicate a single concert from beginning to end, the three-CD and four-LP collections capture the band at the height of its formidable powers.

It wasn’t a question of how the West was won – America had already fallen – more why they didn’t prove it at the time by releasing a live album. Given that the Stones and The Who were happy to show off their abilities on stage with ‘Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!’ and Live At Leeds respectively, the absence of an official Led Zeppelin live record seemed contrary; after all, the soundboard tapes were in the archive. Still, at least they kept the good bits for Black Dog on their ensuing 1973 US tour.

1 cd for 10€ or 4 lps and a dozen missing tracks for at least 80€ :| ?

hi beppe, I've checked better and you're right the tracks are just four and they are: communication breakdown-louie louie-tangerine-thank you. moreover the song hello Mary lou was cut from the cd version. It's true they are not part of any release and I just hoped due the high cost that they were included in this new reissue.

A dozen missing tracks? Which, exactly? There's just four songs not included in ANY release of this album...
