The Ragged School has a special place in the heart of all American Jacobites fans in that it was the first released on these shores by the venerable Twin/Tone label. The Secretly Canadian CD adds 11 bonus tracks that were recorded around the same time; some were rejected for the album - though they could have easily been included - or used as B-sides. While Jacobites may have recorded rowdier, more "rockist" albums, not one of them plumbs the emotional depths this one does.

Ragged School Original recording reissued, Original recording remastered. Some really great songs on this Jacobites album. Nearly all of the songs mainly have layered acoustic guitars, with some minimal organ, drums and bass guitar. The overall feel of this collection of songs is like a kinda post-punk version of the early Rolling Stones sound.

Jacobites were an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1982 by Nikki Sudden and Dave Kusworth, following the breakup of their respective previous bands, the Swell Maps and the Subterranean Hawks.
