Ma Bells - Jan August. Mr Jan August, a very talented piano player made many a record. Here's one of his classics on the Mercury label. Played for your enjoyment on my 1969 Zenith Nomad II record player.

Oran Thaddeus "Hot Lips" Page (January 27, 1908 – November 5, 1954) was an American jazz trumpeter, singer, and bandleader. He was known as a scorching soloist and powerful vocalist. Page was a member of Walter Page's Blue Devils, Artie Shaw's Orchestra and Count Basie's Orchestra, and he worked with Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith and Ida Cox. He was one of the five musicians who opened Birdland with Charlie Parker in 1949.

The Bells is the ninth solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in April 1979 by Arista Records. It is recorded in binaural sound. Several songs on the album are the product of a short-lived writing partnership between Reed and Nils Lofgren. Other of the team's work appeared on Nils' eponymous album of the same year

The Flaming Lips will mark the 20th anniversary of ‘The Soft Bulletin’ by performing the classic album in full during a special UK tour. Released in 1999, the critically acclaimed ninth record from the band features the singles ‘Race for the Prize’ and ‘Waitin’ for a Superman’. Back in 2011, The Flaming Lips performed the album in full at London’s Alexandra Palace as part of ATP’s Don’t Look Back series of shows. Last year, the band released a Greatest Hits compilation – featuring material released between 1993 and 2017. B-sides, outtakes, and some more left-field cuts were also included.
