Autopilot sails into amiable ambiance with WORLD RECEIVER. It's a pleasant journey. Monomonk" draws out and slows down what I assume to be a Gregorian chant, until the voice becomes just a low texture, and "World Receiver Pt. 2" blips merrily. Electro Pamphlet" brings in another digitized voice, while "Solitaire" drifts in its stripped-down void.

Autopilot's follow-up to 1999's The Voice Inside attempts to strike a balance between cold brooding and club coloration, as well as find a listenable subgenre of art-flecked beats and the ambient hints of electro music.

As in his debut, World Receiver won't win over anyone who wasn't already familiar with the Elektrolux sound - by working toward a light middle ground, Autopilot remains an intelligent, enjoyable, funk-less mess.
