Never failing to please, the Black Seeds are not a reggae band as such per say, their roots span endless boundaries that include reggae, soul, funk, boogie, and of course R&. t’s just that they manage to lace it all together in a heretofore unheard of fashion, with a passion of boundless energy. It’s tough not to make Into The Dojo not sound like the perfect album, and it certainly does have some flaws, but those are easily overlooked in favor of all that goes right, delivering music that defines a set of attitudes and experiences that on the whole are sound, considered, straightforward, and delightful.

Performing in Leicester, August 2012. Background information. Black Seeds first album, Keep on Pushing, was released 2001 when the band already had established themselves as a strong live act. Already very successful in New Zealand and popular in Australia and south east Asia, their third album Into the Dojo (2007) introduced Black Seeds to the rest of the world. They have released five albums, a live album, and. two remix albums. They have two double-platinum selling albums in New Zealand, and successful European album releases through the German-based Sonar Kollektiv label
