The Orbison Way is the eighth album recorded by Roy Orbison, and his second for MGM Records, released in January 1966. Two singles were taken from that album; "Crawling Back" and "Breakin' Up Is Breakin' My Heart", both of which were chart hits in England, the US and Australia. All tracks composed by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees, except where indicated. Five of their songs feature his band, The Candy Men. Produced by Wesley Rose & Jim Vienneau. Arranged by Bill McElhiney. Bill Malloy - engineer.

The other problem is its timing - Orbison's second album for MGM, The Orbison Way was recorded in October and November of 1965, and issued in January of the following year - had he released an album such as this in 1963, or even 1964, it might have achieved more respect than it did (and it still managed to chart

On his second MGM album, Roy Orbison works alternately in an orchestral and a band setting (the latter with his new backing group the Candy Men), and offers two distinctly new wrinkles on his sound throughout this album, while guitarists Billy Sanford and John Rainey Adkins reveal themselves as powerful yet amazingly articulate players. The other problem is its timing - Orbison's second album for MGM, The Orbison Way was recorded in October and November of 1965, and issued in January of the following year - had he released an album such as this in 1963, or even 1964, it might have achieved more respect than it did (and it still managed to chart.

Roy Orbison (April 23, 1936 – December 6, 1988) was an American singer-songwriter who found the most success in the early rock and roll era from 1956 to 1964. He later enjoyed a resurgence in the late 1980s with chart success as a member of the Traveling Wilburys and with his Mystery Girl album which included the hit single "You Got It". At the height of his popularity, 22 of Orbison's songs placed on the US Billboard Top 40 chart, and six peaked in the top five, including two number one hits

Orbison joined MGM riding the crest of the Oh, Pretty Woman wave; the composition which he wrote with Bill Dees was a . chart-topper at the height of the British Invasion in 1964. Enticed by the promise of a starring role on screen, Orbison signed with the label rather than re-up his Monument deal. He first entered the studio for MGM in July 1965, and his first single Ride Away reached No. 1 in Canada. His debut MGM album, There is Only One Roy Orbison, topped the British chart
