The songs were recorded at New Street Studio, a former art gallery in Decatur GA, near Atlanta. The band embarked on a world tour in 2009 to support this album. The band began working on their sixth studio record, Arabia Mountain, in November 2009. The band finished recording the album with producer Mark Ronson in New York City in November 2010. A show aboard The Temptress in New York City.

Arabia Mountain may be poised to push this band further over-ground, but they're not going up without a fight. Filled withPut Mark Ronson and The Black Lips together sounds like an abstract dream. But thats what we got, an abstract beautiful dream. Filled with summery garage flower punk music. Mark Ronson is well known for his work in Mainstream production and the Black Lips are well known for their Low Fi . The album still sounds rough like any other Black Lips LP. Something that I really liked on the album was the saxophones that appear on a number of the tracks.

Even though they've been around for 12 years, it's hard to take Black Lips seriously. As always, the band are at their best when they go for the pop jugular, and the highlight of this album is 'Spidey's Curse', a ridiculous lament to Spiderman ("Peter Parker/ don't let 'em mark ya") with a huge debt to Phil Spector and The Ramones. If ever a couplet just made a song it's this one: "It's your body/ no-one's body but yours anyway"

Black Lips seem to want it both ways. With the release of their fourth studio album, 2007's Good Bad Not Evil, the Atlanta rockers saw their audience expand well beyond the garage-punk underground, thanks to a new alliance with Vice that yielded fawning New York Times profiles, Conan O'Brien appearances, and Virgin Mobile ad placements.
