William Rory Gallagher (/ˈrɔːri ˈɡæləhər/ GAL-ə-hər; 2 March 1948 – 14 June 1995) was an Irish blues and rock t, songwriter, and producer. Born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, and brought up in Cork, Gallagher recorded solo albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, after forming the band Taste during the late 1960s. His albums have sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Gallagher received a liver transplant in 1995, but died of complications later that year in London at the age of 47.

Gallagher was a master on his Fender Stratocaster in playing the blues (as a born Irishman). He was also a stage "beast" (proof of which the various great live albums). A musical purist who refused to release singles or music videos and turned down the opportunity to join The Rolling Stones in the 1970's. A rumoured chronic alcoholic, Rory became ill on tour in the Netherlands and later died in London due to complications arising from a liver transplant. Sites: rorygallagher. BBC Sessions is a blues rock album by Rory Gallagher, released in 1999. The album was compiled from live recordings made at the BBC by Gallagher's brother Donal, and released posthumously. The young Gallagher considered these broadcasts a test to see if bands could demonstrate the same musicisianship in a spontaneous performance as in the studio. Starting with his first band Taste, Gallagher had an excellent relation with Mike Raven and John Peel at BBC radio. It was for Peel that Gallagher recorded the songs in this collection. To an artist who opposed releasing singles, the sessions collected here on this compilation proved invaluable in allowing his music to reach new fans.

Rory Gallagher's Band Taste was formed in 1968 and disbanded in 1970. In 1968 Taste began performing in the UK. The new lineup formed with Richard McCracken on bass and John Wilson on drums Taste moved permanently to London where they signed with the record label Polydor. In November 1968, the band, along with Yes, opened for Cream at Cream's farewell concerts he United States and Canada with the British super group Blind Faith. In April 1969, Taste released the first of their two studio albums, the self-titled Taste, with On the Boards following in early 1970, the latter showing the band's jazz influences.

Rory Gallagher Tribute Holland - Sold Out! Friday, March 2nd, 2018. Great to see such a response to this fantastic tribute on what would be Rory's 70th birthday. For the first time ever, explore Rory's entire musical catalog online - from his first album with Taste, to his recently released Live at Montreux performances. Rory was an incredibly charismatic performer, whose passion was evident in every note he played.

Rory Gallagher's solo debut picks up where On The Boards left off - it's a solid, but significantly less raucous, blues rock outing with ten original tunes that were far more than skeletons for his incisive Strat picking.
