Sturm was an atheist prior to becoming a Christian. She had contemplated suicide and then ended up in a church where a man spoke to her what she believed to be words from God, which led to her becoming a Christian  .

Christoph Christian Sturm (1740–1786) was a German preacher and author, best known for his Reflections on the Works of God in Nature. The son of Johann Jakob Sturm, a lawyer, at Augsburg, was born at Augsburg, January 25, 1740. He studied at the universities of Jena and Halle. He was then appointed, in 1762, as one of the masters in the Paedagogium at Halle, and in 1765 became Conrector of the school at Sorau, at that time still part of Brandenburg. January 18, 1978 Andernach, Mayen-Koblenz, Germany. He began his training as a singer at the University of music and dramatic arts in Graz, Austria, before moving to the University of music and performing arts in Munich, studying firstly with Helmut Deutsch, Daphne Evangelatos, and Christian Gerhaher. His operatic début was as Acis in Händels Acis and Galatea on the steps of the Pergamon Altar in Berlin alongside Annette Dasch. Sturm is a regular guest at the Wagner Festival in Austria starring in "Tristan und Isolde", "Parsifal", "Tannhäuser", and "Der Fliegende Holländer". His repertoire extends from Agostino Steffani and Johann Simon Mayr to Wagner and Korngold, as well as the world premiere of operas for the ADevantgarde Festival (A,Devantgarde) in Munich and the Opera Wuppertal.
