I saw Ministry perform this album at First Avenue in Minneapolis, with Kindergarten as the opening act. Reply Notify me 2 Helpful. I don't care what Al thinks about With Sympathy. There are many other Ministry fans that feel the same, obviously.

This album is dedicated to Carol Blank with all our love. All songs published by Ministry Affairs Publishing (BMI). Though not much like any of their following albums, "With Sympathy" (. Work For Love') stands on its own as a great tribute to sythpop. dark keyboards, canned drums, campy lyrics and very dancy.

Ministry's debut album, entitled With Sympathy (also known as Work for Love in Europe), was finished around this time and issued in May, reaching No. 94 in the Billboard 200. On release, the album was supported by two more singles-"Revenge" (with a music video partially reworked from "Same Old Madness") and "I Wanted to Tell Her" (a reworked version of "Primental"), and a supporting concert tour with The Police during the North American leg of their Synchronicity tour. So yes, this will be Ministry's last album. The album, titled From Beer to Eternity, was released on September 6, 2013. Jourgensen stated that Ministry would tour in support of From Beer to Eternity, but would not record any more albums.

Twitch is the second studio album by American rock band Ministry, released on March 12, 1986 by Sire Records. Recorded mostly in London and West Berlin during 1985, it was produced by the band's frontman Al Jourgensen and On-U Sound Records owner Adrian Sherwood.

Ministry's members at the time being Alain Jourgensen and Stephen George. Jourgensen's fake English accent was an homage to the new wave bands he loved at the time. Three singles were pulled from the album: "Work For Love", "I Wanted to Tell Her" and "Revenge", the latter of which got a video

LP (12" album, 33 rpm), Import. Ministry Format: Vinyl. Only 4 left in stock (more on the way).

There are some good things on this album, but first let's explore the seldom spoken, shakiest territory of the groups suspect history. I'm not going to pretend I know a lot about DeBarge, but I suspect they sound a bit like I Wanted to Tell Her. Specifically the verse. Combining the worst of disco, funk and soul, the track is a twisted freak that should have been killed upon birth; instead it was featured prominently at track three.

With Sympathy is the debut album by Ministry. The album was released in 1983 through Arista Records, with Ministry's members at the time being Alain Jourgensen and Stephen George. Singer Jourgensen was supposedly pressured into making the album in the synthpop style by Arista management, which is in contrast to the harder sound he developed as his career continued. However, there are several reports of Jourgensen saying in the eighties how he discovered hardcore punk, which changed his musical direction, and became ashamed of putting out the album.

Talk about Ministry - With Sympathy

you secret
Masterpiece. The latter albums (the ones after the Land of Rape and Honey) in my opinion are not near melodic and cacthy in comparison with "With Sympathy" and "Twitch".

This album is absolutely awesome. For his time was pretty OK, but today you can see the soul, the visionary that was. If you disagree with me, go check this genre called "nu-disco" or "nu french house".

While I myself am more of a Ministry freak to do with their later albums, this is actually a masterpiece. Many people may not believe it, if you first heard them from Psalm 69, you're going to hate this album unless you are open minded.Sad but true, you can believe what you want to believe about ol' Al Jourgensen, but this is where Ministry truly started. This is the birth of Ministry, and they've been around a loooooong time before Psalm 69.Regardless of how bad Al trashes this record, it's much better than the shit he was coming out with in the late 90's losing his mind on Heroin and it's still better than the countless remix albums he has released since The Last Sucker. The whole story of the record company "forcing" him to write this record, is all a lie to cover it up. Anyone that has Early Trax/12 Inch Singles knows that those songs sound just like this record, just different, and the very first singles on Wax Trax were remixes and demos for this album. So believe what you want to believe, but the truth is, this is where Ministry truly began. They were one of those synth pop/new wave bands like New Order, Berlin, Depeche Mode.. and for 1983, musically the keyboards on this record totally blow away many of the new wave artists at that time. Say the least; chessy lyrics that work with the magic of the music, With Sympathy is a land mark in Synth Pop. No matter how much Al denies this record, this is what he really started as. Anyone that listens to this record and every other Ministry record from here on out, can see the anger in this record that grew on Twitch and through out.

Though not much like any of their following albums, "With Sympathy" (i.e. 'Work For Love') stands on its own as a great tribute to sythpop. Dispite Al Jourgensen's obviously fake Bitt accent, "Revenge" and "Effigy" are two of the best tracks... dark keyboards, canned drums, campy lyrics and very dancy. These songs stand up to other oft forgotten syth classics such as Soft Cell's "Sex Dwarf," Secession's "Touch" and Q Lazarus' "Goodbye Horses." If you're looking for classic synthpop tunes of yesteryear, this is certainly quite a find. If you're looking for tracks like "Just One Fix" or "Stigmata," you won't find it here. But If you dig "Every Is Halloween" or "All Day," then you've found quite a "Gemm."

Alain Jourgenson himself refers to this album as "[A] complete abortion and total piece of corporate shit" and "The difference between Ministry and other bands is that we sold out before we even started" (taken from Industrial Revolution)
