Talk about Egyptian Empire - The Horn Track

Falya
I realise the label states 1991, but I have to wonder if this could be an error? I can't find any evidence of it appearing in any tracklists until around summertime '92. Does anyone have a link to a well-known '91 set where this got played?

The only person who might be able to clarify what the release year once and for all is Tim Taylor himself, perhaps even Micky Finn as he was involved with side B.In any case, I say might, as original artists aren't always reliable with dates either. Some kept accurate documentation others didn't. Some have great memories, some are useless.
Mpapa
This used to be dropped a couple of times a night back in my local rave night in marthas in 1992. Everyone went absolutely ape shit over it. Tim Taylor is a genius.

Anyone know where the horn part of this track is sampled from...I heard this recently https://www.discogs.com/Les-Moins-Du-Monast%C3%A8re-De-Bodnath-Tibet-Rituel-De-Soir/release/1395677 And I can hear a good resemblance??
Goldendragon
I've got it on something, sure it mightve been flipped on an old skool hip hop track, just cant think what ???? ... Wanna say something of PE but am thinking probably not now... Hmm??
Bludsong
Some hero found it on Facebook, it's in the liner notes of the album now. https://www.discogs.com/C-Cat-Trance-Khamu-She-Sleep-Walks/master/85254

Yes indeed Luke's remix is an absolute banger and classic underground anthem!
Thetath

This tune brings back (hazy) memories, pretty much all of them musical. The sample at the start of the tune is The Human League, a UK New romantic group. For me, I remember being in a club in Windsor (I think) and being utterly blown away by this tune. Me and some (poor unsuspecting) bloke were wandering around the dace floor, hand in hand wondering what the hell was going on. That's the power of this tune. I've got the EX-02 version, so am well chuffed.

The sample at the start of the tune is The Human League, a UK New romantic group. He's right - the intro from Love Action by the Human League is in there. Good spot, OrangeRider.
Steel_Blade
The sample used is from C Cat Trance's "Rattling Ghosts", not from a Human League's tune.

Massive rave track. This has got to be one of the most kicking records i have ever heard. It's a very aggressive record. The tune is essentially built around an old eerie horn sample. The track then drops into some very meaty Amen layered with another old hip hop break behind the Amen - sped up to about 135bpm. The layered breaks are then accompanied by a tidal wave of sub bass. It then breaksdown into some weird repeated synths. It's a very hectic record, but a damn good one. Very possibly Tim Taylor's finest moment, and there have been some to choose from too. When i first heard this about 10 years ago, i couldnt believe what i was hearing. On a loud system this must sound so heavy. At the time 1992, this must have stood head and shoulders above other rave tunes for the way it's been produced. Pure chaos.

The Horn Track, foghorn mix always goes well when mixing, but for just sheer floor filling madness just drop the original mix, if you dont have this in your collection then get it!

This release containing both the original - (UK Breakbeat Mix) also released on Fokus Recordings, and the Toxic Two Remix, the Toxic Two Remix being the full-length version which is unfortunately cut short on the Ffrreedom release but not on here. What can be said about this release apart from it being a stone cold classic, is that it's absolutely stormin' and was hammered to death throughout 1992. UK Breakbeat Mix; This was a peak-time tune that was instantly recognzable by that eerie sounding horn and the most raucous, darkest, full-on, slammin', breakbeats and bass known to man...accompanied by insane stabs and dark & dirty acid distortion, with vocoder samples taken off Egyptian Lovers'classic electro tune Egypt, Egypt. This appealed to both techno & drum n bass djs/producers alike...truly hardcore! Toxic Two Remix; Flip to the other side and you've got a wicked, dark, dirty remix on the massive, stompin', hardcore techno tip, massive with all the techno and hardcore djs of the time. This time full of insane hoover noises, subtle 303 and a drop halfway through which is one of those "I've totally lost it" moments, not forgetting that insane, hypnotic "horn riff" which weaves in and out like an evil snake being charmed. Don't know where that horn riff was lifted from, but boy does it do the job. Unforgettable classic for those who were there.

The one and only release (as far as i'm aware) under the name 'Egyptian Empire'. Cracking hardcore/breakbeat track from the early nineties that was guaranteed to bring the house down - as soon as you hear the horn sound its a 'hairs on the back of your neck' moment. Fast paced and with tons of bass, Track 1 is the better aurally although track 2 is easier to mix with. Great release.
