Orchestrion is a studio album by jazz guitarist Pat Metheny. It was released by Nonesuch Records on January 26, 2010.

Pat Metheny’s Orchestrion refers to a 19th century hybrid musical instrument of the same name that contained (usually) a wind orchestra, various percussion instruments, and sometimes a piano played by a pinned cylinder or a music roll - like a player piano. Metheny designed and plays one here thanks to a commissioned group of inventors, advanced solenoid switch technology, and pneumatics.

Pat Metheny Orchestrion Digital MP3 Album. Now, says Pat Metheny, ten years into the new century, it feels like time to try to create something particularly connected to the reality of this unique period in time. What he’s created, Orchestrion, is an adventurous solo recording that pairs the composer-guitarist with a phalanx of remarkable, custom-made instruments played via solenoid switches and pneumatics, resulting in what the Guardian calls his "most ambitious experiment" yet. Availability: In stock.

The Orchestrion is a project by the musical robotic specialists LEMUR (League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots). That’s all I’ll say for now, but I definitely will be working to cover this story in more detail. After more than a year of work and collaboration, I am extremely excited to tell you about the Orchestrion Project. In 2007, 17-time Grammy-winning jazz artist Pat Metheny came to LEMUR with the idea to produce an album and tour backed entirely by robotic musical instruments
