Geto Boys - Da Good Da Bad & Da Ugly flac album

Da Good Da Bad & Da Ugly is the sixth studio album by the Houston hip hop group the Geto Boys, released in late 1998 on Rap-A-Lot/Virgin Records. Following the short-lived reunion of the group's three core members, Scarface, Willie D and Bushwick Bill, for 1996's acclaimed The Resurrection album, Bushwick left to pursue a solo career, leaving Scarface and Willie D to continue on as a duo. Unlike past Geto Boys albums, this one has a guest rapper on nearly every track.

When the Geto Boys came together in 1986, though, it was with a completely different lineup. DMG took his place for 1998's Da Good, Da Bad & Da Ugly but returned for the group's 2005 reunion album, The Foundation.

There are flashes of inspiration throughout Da Good da Bad & da Ugly, but musically and lyrically, it neither has the Geto Boys' signature sound nor an interesting variation on it. Instead, it feels (and looks) like a poor attempt to keep pace with No Limit. Since Scarface and Willie D are better MCs than the average No Limit rapper - so is DMG, for that matter - the record works better than the average No Limit album, but feels distressingly anonymous. A few cuts are successful, but the record never gels as a whole, leaving it as a low point in the group's catalog.

The Geto Boys' popularity was boosted somewhat in 1999 by the prominent use of two songs-"Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta" (released as a promotional single for the 1992 compilation album Uncut Dope) and "Still" (from The Resurrection)-in Mike Judge's comedy satire film Office Space. The song "Mind of a Lunatic" has been covered by many recording acts including Marilyn Manson in 2003, as a B-side off the album The Golden Age of Grotesque. Da Good da Bad & da Ugly (1998).
