The Right to Rock is the second studio album by American glam metal band Keel. It was the first to be produced by Kiss's Gene Simmons under their new label Gold Mountain Records (which was distributed by A&M Records at the time). When the band started recording the album, drummer Bobby Marks left. He was replaced by different drummers: Fred Coury (who went on to join Cinderella), Barry Brandt (of Angel) and Steve Riley (who subsequently left to join the band .

Keel is the fourth album by the American glam metal band Keel, released on June 21, 1987. This was the last album to feature guitarists Marc Ferrari and Bryan Jay, as they left the band a year later (although Jay can be heard on the live portion of the band's next release, Larger Than Live. They eventually re-joined Keel in 1998 to release Keel VI: Back in Action and again in 2009 for the band's 25th anniversary.

Keel was formed in 1984 upon the demise of the Ron Keel fronted Nashville band Steeler. After scoring with a commercially successful independent album release in ’83, Ron Keel wanted a fresh challenge. The members of Steeler went their separate ways and formed their own new projects and big Ron put together a brand new heavy metal act under the banner of his surname.
