DCI Gene Hunt is a fictional character in BBC One's science fiction/police procedural drama Life on Mars and its sequel, Ashes to Ashes. The character is portrayed by Philip Glenister in both Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, whereas in the American version he is portrayed by Harvey Keitel. His younger self, also known as the ghost of Gene Hunt, is portrayed by Mason Kayne.

Gene Hunt's 1989 debut 12", Living In A Land, has long been something of a slept-on classic; a brilliant piece of original Chicago acid that seems to have been overlooked by crate diggers. Here it gets a deserved repress, with bold new mastering to enhance the rugged nature of Hunt's mind-altering acid lines and booming drum machine rhythms. It's the title track that's naturally the star attraction, with Hunt gently heightening the intensity throughout via jackin' 303 lines, trippy electronics and Armando style fills. Just like the original pressing, the flipside.

My copy of this record is fine volume-wise. I haven't got a copy of the original so I can't tell how it compares though in terms of sound quality, but sounds OK to me. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.
