PAWS's debut studio album Cokefloat! was released on FatCat Records on 8 October 2012. To support the album's release, the band toured extensively for the entirety of 2013 and this included their first tour of North America. In 2019, PAWS released their fourth album, Your Church On My Bonfire. Produced by Frightened Rabbit's Andy Monaghan, it presented a more acoustic and reflective sound, with lyrics dealing with the personal turmoil of the previous few years experienced by band members Discography.

Cokefloat! nods to Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and The Lemonheads as it buzzes and fizzes along, slotting neatly alongside a host of current bands: Japandroids, Best Coast, Cloud Nothings, Veronica Falls and, in particular, Yuck. Too many contemporaries? Perhaps. Certainly, on first listen, Cokefloat! seems tuneful and energetic but a little unoriginal – and the speedy manner in which it has been put together makes it feel somewhat disposable. But when these lyrical themes hit home and thump you in the stomach, you’re left in no doubt that there is real life here – words to take your breath away.

Jaded romance is a common topic, but it feels pure. Even when the topics are bittersweet, as in the excellent "Sore Tummy" with guest vocalist Alice Costelloe, enthusiasm holds everything together.
